Halloween Hangover

When did Halloween become a week-long festivity? Seriously, every night this week we have either gone to a Trunk-or-Treat, a Halloween Bash, or hosted our own party. It isn't even Halloween yet, and I am wasted! In fact, Halloween isn't here for THREE more days!!! Are you scared of passing out and dying of sugar poisoning and pumpkin- pureƩ-based baked goods?

I am.

So last night, my sister, mom and I, hosted our own Haunted Mansion Party. Other than the being wasted-the-morning-after part, it was totally killer. We killed it with the following activities and crafty foods:
Mummy Dogs

Mud Cups

Hot Cider

Thriller Dance

DJ
Our DJ was very much more alive than this, but I didn't get her picture.

We played musical chairs, did limbo, had a cake walk, ate near illegal amounts of sugar, and in all other respects partied our A's off. Dang, I deserved to sleep in after that one! But I am working on my final scene this morning. Mwah..hahahahaha! And that got me out of bed.

What about you? Got any big Halloween plans? Are you overdoing Halloween a bit like me? Are epilogues still cool--or are they like prologues and should be buried in the graveyards of literature (according to some agents and editors)?

  1. How freaking awesome! I'm not a huge fan of Halloween, but that party sounded so fun! :D We had our trunk-or-treat on Tuesday. We will go trick-or-treating on Monday and then we can get ready for Thanksgiving! Yay for food! :D

And I don't mind epilogues. Just like prologues. If they're done right, they don't bother me. :) Yay for finishing your final scene!! Have a great weekend!

  3. It sounds like your party was a night to remember. :)

Not much in the way of plans here. I'm taking the kids trick or treating on Halloween with some friends and that's about it. We just moved this week, so it's been too busy to party hardy. Hopefully next year though. :)

And I like epilogues. I'm not an agent though. But they help to wrap things up nice and neatly.

  4. I love that you're overdoing Halloween, it sounds like it was an awesome party! The mummy dogs are cute. We are headed to a Trunk-or-Treat and spook trail tomorrow night and then to my mom's house for the big bash Halloween night. Should be fun!

  5. I'm with Chantele I like epilogues and prologues if done nicely.

I'm going to a Halloween party Saturday night. Then we're headed to a small town for 'Gothic History Tours'. Never been but I heard it's awesome. The whole town will be dressed up in 1940s garb and give you a tour of what the town looked like back then...with a bunch of haunted stuff thrown in.

    So excited.

    Happy Halloween!

  8. I want to be invited to your Halloween parties! Also, we should all be provided with a video of you dancing to Thriller! The mummy dogs are super cute.

I think a prolog and epilogue should be used sparingly. There are certain books that it helps add to the feel of the book. Or allows the auther to slip a tid bit of back story (like my wip).

  10. Oh my gosh! Can I bookmark this page for Halloween party ideas? Those mummy dogs are the COOLEST! I love it all. I think I may have to crash your Halloween party next year. Sounds like you know how to have some fun!

I am like you though. I do get totally wasted with all the chaos and week long celebration that Halloween seems to be. It's so nice when it's finally over, but still fun to celebrate if I can just get some of the sugar out of my house.

  11. I think I'm in the wrong country. We're lucky if anything happens here.

  12. Jessie-- you are too cool for words. That is one seriously kickA party! And yes. We've been doing the week-long thing, too. Just without the awesome parties.

  17. What a fun party and the food items look awesome! I've got a book full of fun food ideas and when I drug it out for ideas for my work's potluck my 21 year old son got really excited. Made me smile.

  18. What a party girl you are! How fun! Yes, I'm Halloweened out. Pumpkin walks, Halloween things at the children's museum. And I'm lame when it comes to costumes. Some people are super creative and put me to shame. But I guess it's still a good time. ;)
    Congrats on your final scene!!!

  19. Halloween is making me angry this year because our principal has banned costumes. We started a petition and got 120 signatures in our 157 student body, and the woman didn't even listen. Sorry, I know this is supposed to a joyous post, but this is what my Halloween week has been so far.

  20. Nice party ideas! I love the little mummy hot dogs.

  21. Oh man, you've been deep into Halloween haven't you? Seems like you've been having a lot (even if a bit too much) fun! Because c'mon, Halloween comes but once a year. ;) You have to enjoy it while it's here!

We haven't done much this year. We're just planning on taking our daughter trick-or-treating to a few houses then coming back home to hand out candy.

  22. I have to admit the mummy dogs looked terrific! Fairly quiet on the Halloween scene in our area.

  23. Every year I plan to throw a costume party and unfortunately, it never comes to pass. Seems I'm innundated with other Halloweeny stuff. The holidays kill. There's never enough time in the day. Although I look forward to welcoming the holidays, to spending time with them, I'm equally happy to see them go.
