Inkblot Test

What do you see?

I see the Eiffel Tower with crabs and sea horses. Like Paris is underwater, being pulled down by gigantic, colorful sea creatures.

Yes, that probably means I am a psycho. Suspicions confirmed!

Well, for us writers I think our manuscripts can be a inkblot test. We see what we want to see. We see what we are looking for. We see what reflects our state of mind.

At the moment, I feel like my manuscript is a hideous monster.

What does yours look like?

  1. I think our manuscripts are related. And if you're crazy, that goes double for me because I can totally see what you're seeing. Lol

  2. I just see someone's hip bones that have been painted bright like something you'd see in Hawaii. I don't feel...I know my manuscript is a hideous and odious beast of a monster!

  3. I see a bunch of multicoloured blobs :o|
As for my MS, I think it's better than it realy is. You know how parents think their babies are the most gorgeous things ever, even when there's evidence to the contrary - That's me and my MS

  4. Ha! All I see is a lot of work I have yet to do. It's going to be a busy spring.

  5. I see hummingbirds flying around a guy with a mustache in a samurai helmet.

    ...I'm probably a psycho, too. ;)

  6. My manuscript looks like my cell phone: I so want to pick it up and play with it, but I have to restrain myself ;)

  7. My ms looks like a big old tangled up ball of wool - in four different colours since I've been at it with the highlighters :-)

  8. That's great! and so true, about seeing what we want to see based on our moods. I think that's true for books we write as well as what we read. They can affect us differently. My ms?--rather deformed at the moment. LOL

For the top inkblot, I saw 2 girls in pink pajamas holding cheerleader pom-poms. :D

  9. I've had that moment with my manuscript where I just wanted to strangle it. But tomorrow, the ink blot looks better. Oddly enough, I saw exactly what you saw except your tower looked like guns to me.

  10. I saw the Eiffel Tower in that inkblot too, but I saw fireworks going off in front of it. :)

    I like the cartoon, too.

  11. Mine looks like a monster that is about to get it's arse whooped. ;0)

I saw the Eiffel Tower too but aliens were attaching it.

  12. I saw the Eiffel tower too! But with Chinese dragons dancing towards it.

As for my ms? It's still shiny and new. I don't hate the sight of it yet.

  13. I see the Eiffel tower too! And those pink things are holding hands! How sweet! It's still all about the romance.

My MS is all sorts of scary right now, but that is one reason I love CP's. They help me see what other readers will see and help me understand if I'm conveying what I really want to :)

  14. I saw the Eiffel tower too! But that could be b/c my current story is set in Paris. LOL

  15. I saw the Eiffel tower, too! But with fireworks.

And my ms currently looks like a puzzle, someone dropped all the pieces on the ground.

  16. Love this! My manuscript feels like a mountain, an uphill climb as I try to reach my word count goal. :)

  17. I see furry pliers. Weird. My manuscript is just a huge mess of scrambled eggs right now. But, I guess it's okay considering it's still a rough draft. Keep on keeping on! I'm sure it's better than you think.

  18. So, so true. That is why crit partners and Beta readers are essential. Right now I feel my MS is full of horrible cliches, rookie mistakes and boring prose, but that's probably because I'm going crazy waiting for the betas to send it back. There has to be something good in there right?????

  19. PS I thought the pink things were people holding hands, running towards the Eiffel Tower.

  20. My first thought was flowers but when you said Eiffel Tower I changed my mind. I guess it's good we all have our opinions, eh?

  21. I see one of those dancers in Rio.
