NaNoReviMo 2012

It's November 1, 2012...and I have a candy hangover! But regardless of the almost-illegal amounts of sugar I consumed yesterday, its time to get to work!

And just like last year during National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), I am revising. The crazy part is that I am revising the same mother-lovin' book! Oh well, another year of NaNoReviMo for me. Which is cool because last year was so fun. And this year is going to be even better.

So if you are revising instead of drafting a brand new novel, and you want to get involved, let me know. Here are the super chic buttons for our group:

Okay, now to get down to the nitty gritty, here are my NaNoReviMo 2012 Goals:
  • Revise my 300+ page manuscript by November 30.
  • Tackle 75 pages of revisions per week
  • Revise at least 2 hours per day
I think my goals will get more specific as I dig in. But for now, that's all I got.

What are your November goals? Are you going to write or revise your guts out?

  5. Revise my guts out, definitely! Just as soon as I finish writing my guts out.... This is shaping up to be a very gutless month.

  6. I'm just so tickled to have a support group to push me forward. Now someone tell me to quit reading blogs and fussin' with email.

  7. 2 hours each day?! You might go insane doing that... Just sayin'. Good luck, though! I'm sure you don't need it.

    1. Seriously? I would've thought you'd scoff at my measly two hours! You who has 3 books to revise! Two hours is doable for me, 3 books is not! At least that's what I'm sayin today. We'll see. I reserve the right to adjust my goals. :)

  8. I just started hearing about this. Too bad I didn't save my revisions. I'm going to research agents, work on my query, and work on my new manuscript. Good luck with your goals. They sound awesome.

  10. NaNoRevMo seems awesome! Good luck with everything. I'll be writing, saving December for revising my guts out. ;)

  11. Great goals! You're reminding me to be specific when I post mine (on Sat.). And just fyi, SO much better to revise for an agent. :D Go NaNoReviMo!

  12. Jessie, I am in love with your blog. Good luck with your goals :) I love the idea of dedicating November to editing and revising :)

  13. Wow, what a challenge you've set yourself!

I'm sort of in this boat as I am rewriting, but in a way it does feel like a new novel. Still, I'm hanging out with my old characters.

  16. I'm with you on the revising thing. Right now now I have to rewrite three chapters then it's all revise from here on out. Hopefully this month will give me the push I need to finally get this book done.

  17. I definitely want to join you! I've been revising for months and I need to finish. It's taking so long because I've been rewriting so much, but I *think* I'm getting to the point where I can just revise now. *crosses fingers*

  18. I'm late to the party. Can I still join?

  19. I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm in.
I believe it is possible to get my entire MS revised this month and I'm joining the party.
    LONG LIVE NaNoRevMo!

  20. Great goals! I hope it's ok, but I'm hoping to join NaNoRevMo, while at the same time doing NaNoWriMo . . .is that ok, even if it's crazy.
My RevMo goal is to finish revising Champion, and then read it aloud and find the last weak spots.

  21. I'm working on edits for my second book which do have to be done by the end of this month! How about that! I'm feeling overwhelmed. So this is a pretty cool post for me. I feel encouraged knowing someone else is doing this too! Good luck!

  22. I've never jumped into NaNo for reals, because I've always been revising something. So this is fantastic!
I have a middle grade novel to revise. Hopefully I can get through two rounds of revising before the 30th.
Cheers to all of my fellow revisers!

  23. I'm doing nano. Hoping to get book three done in the first two weeks, and book two revised in the second two weeks...
    We shall see...
BUT - I've got the house all to myself while the two kiddos are at school, so it's DOable. Hopefully ;-)

  24. LOVE this...count me in! How do I 'meet' others? Is there a group? I'm trying to revise my first novel...which is not completely typed...but that's another story for another day. My goal for this month is to finish draft 2 and revise 10 chapters. I'm only on the prologue...I'm already discouraged :(

  25. Hi, Jessie,

I came across NaNoReviMo a couple of days ago, but hopped by two blogs to get here. Def. need to push through on a particular ms and could use the support.

  26. Go, Jessie! I actually wish I were revising this November instead of drafting. Revising is totally more fun! You seem like you have great and realistic goals. Have fun this month! It's always better to revise and draft in the company of supportive friends.

  27. I decided. I'm doing both! Yes, I will probably half-ass both, but it won't be the first time! So count me in! Besides, Mara's button is sweet looking and like a compulsive shopper, I need it.

  28. What a great idea! I always end up revising in November, so I feel like the odd one out with all the NaNoWriMoers out there.

This is the first set of revisions for this book, so they're big. My goal is to average two days/scene until the end of November. That should take me about to the end. (I'm already halfway done.)

    Good luck with your revisions!

  29. I hope your revisions are still going well, Jessie. Woot! Woot! <3 Ruby Rose <3

  30. I'll have to do this next year.

This is my very first NaNoWriMo after dodging it for at least seven or eight years. I'm almost done! Which means more revising in my future.

  31. I'll definitely be doing this next year :) I'm writing this year, working on the same novel that I wrote in June for CampNaNo (which I then threw away and changed absolutely every little spec of detail in it so it's really not even the same book anymore...I basically only stole the title from that one lol). I'm almost done writing (about 12,000 words to go) and I am itching like crazy to get in there and start editing.

Good luck to all you ReviMos :) and any WriMos out there too :) Happy writing!
